H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Minute Repeater Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Cosmic Rain

H. Moser & Cie. Endeavour Minute Repeater Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Cosmic Rain

While the Swiss watch industry slows down for summer, H. Moser & Cie. has introduced a new iteration of its most complex movement platform: the Endeavour Minute Repeater Cylindrical Tourbillon Skeleton Cosmic Rain. This timepiece stands out for its celestial dial, open-worked construction, and advanced chiming mechanism.

A Cosmic Dial with Raden Artistry

The Cosmic Rain gets its name from its dial, which combines a domed aventurine glass base with shimmering mother-of-pearl inlays. These gradient inlays evoke streaking comets against a night sky, creating a dynamic and luminous effect. True to Moser's minimalist ethos, the dial bears no logo or wordmark, allowing the celestial design to take center stage.

This is the first time Moser has employed mother-of-pearl inlays, a technique known as raden, more commonly seen in Japanese watchmaking. The result is a dial that is both artistic and technical, with curved, luminescent hands that follow the camber of the glass.

Calibre HMC 909: A Skeletonized Marvel

The Cosmic Rain is powered by the calibre HMC 909, developed in collaboration with complications specialist Manufacture Hautes Complications (MHC), now part of the Timeless group. The movement features an off-center time display that reveals the strike train and a flying tourbillon, elevated by a cylindrical hairspring—a nod to historical watchmaking.

The skeletonized architecture exposes the chiming mechanism on the dial side, with polished hammers and gongs visible during operation. The inverted construction allows the gongs to resonate within the large dial chamber, enhancing acoustic performance. However, the back of the movement is simplified, with a one-piece barrel bridge that hides much of the going train.

Design and Wearability

Despite its complexity, the Cosmic Rain is remarkably compact at 40 mm in diameter and 14.4 mm thick. The lightweight titanium case ensures comfort, making it suitable for everyday wear. The watch is water-resistant to 30 meters and comes with an alligator leather strap.

The Cosmic Rain is a collector's piece, and its value is likely to appreciate over time.
