The most captivating feature of the Abyss is its dial, which uses Musou Black, a water-based acrylic paint developed by Koyo Orient Japan. This remarkable substance absorbs 99.4% of visible light, making the dial appear as a bottomless pit. Unlike Vantablack, which is restricted for commercial use, Musou Black is accessible, and Wren has harnessed its unique properties to create a watch that challenges perception. The paint's ability to trap light gives the dial an eerie depth, enhanced by a sandwich construction where hour markers and indexes are cut through the top layer to reveal Super-LumiNova beneath, making them appear to float in the darkness.

Beyond its striking aesthetics, the Diver One Abyss is a fully capable dive watch. The 41mm stainless steel case, coated with a scratch-resistant DLC finish, measures 47mm lug-to-lug and 13.3mm thick, including the domed sapphire crystal with anti-reflective coating. A signed screw-down crown ensures 200 meters of water resistance, making it suitable for serious underwater adventures. The unidirectional bezel features 120 clicks and a lumed 60-minute scale, ensuring readability even in pitch-black conditions.
