Awake Son Mai Frosted Leaf: New Storm, Blood Moon, and Lagoon Dials

Awake has expanded its Son Mai collection with three new dial variations: Frosted Leaf Storm, Blood Moon, and Lagoon. These additions bring nature-inspired color combinations to the brand's signature handmade Vietnamese lacquer dials, which were first introduced in 2025 with blue, green, and moka options. The new models feature a slightly smaller 38mm case, a departure from the original 39mm size, offering a slimmer profile while maintaining the essence of the collection.

Case and Design

The 316L stainless steel case measures 38mm in diameter, with a 44.75mm lug-to-lug and 11.5mm thickness (10mm without the crystal). It features polished surfaces, satin-finished sides, a slightly curved sapphire crystal, and a screw-down crown and caseback. Water resistance is rated at 100 meters. The new watches also adopt Awake's new handwritten logo, which complements the handmade nature of the dials.

Dial Craftsmanship

Each dial is a masterpiece of traditional Vietnamese Son Mai lacquerwork, combined with pure silver leaf. The Storm variant pairs black with orange, the Blood Moon features deep red and black, and the Lagoon uses layers of blue and green. Creating each dial takes approximately 15 hours, involving multiple layers of lacquer and natural pigments. The hands and indexes are polished, brushed, and faceted steel, with Super-LumiNova BGW9 applied underneath for a subtle glow.

Movement and Performance

All three watches are powered by the automatic La Joux-Perret G101 movement, which operates at 28,800 vibrations per hour (4Hz) and provides a 68-hour power reserve. The movement is visible through the sapphire caseback, featuring a custom tungsten rotor with polished, brushed, and bead-blasted finishes. The rehaut is engraved and decorated for added detail.

Strap and Wearability

Each watch comes on a handmade Maison Bouveret nubuck calfskin strap, color-matched to the dial (orange for Storm, red for Blood Moon, blue for Lagoon). The strap has a rubberized calfskin lining, tone-on-tone stitching, and curved quick-release spring bars. It is secured with a Fitwell M1 micro-adjustment ardillon buckle, ensuring a comfortable fit. The lug width is 20mm.

Availability and Pricing

The Son Mai Frosted Leaf Storm, Blood Moon, and Lagoon are part of Awake's permanent collection, with approximately 100 pieces produced per year for each version. Deliveries are scheduled to begin in the last week of September 2026. Each watch is priced at EUR 2,820, including taxes and shipping.
