Louis Erard and Brilliant Earth Launch the Solstice Collection

Louis Erard and Brilliant Earth: A New Kind of Collaboration

Louis Erard has long been known for its collaborative timepieces, often teaming up with independent watchmakers to create limited editions that blend different design philosophies. However, the brand's latest project marks a departure from tradition. The Solstice Collection, developed with Brilliant Earth, a jewelry company founded in 2005, represents Brilliant Earth's first foray into watchmaking and a fresh direction for Louis Erard.

Brilliant Earth has built a reputation for ethical sourcing, using recycled metals and lab-grown diamonds in its jewelry. The Solstice Collection leverages Louis Erard's watchmaking expertise while giving Brilliant Earth full branding on the dial, with Louis Erard's name appearing only on the caseback.

The Solstice Collection: Summer and Winter

The collection comprises two models: Summer and Winter. Both are built on Louis Erard's La Petite Seconde platform, featuring 39mm stainless steel cases and powered by the Sellita SW260 automatic movement. The Summer watch boasts a textured green dial inspired by moss, while the Winter model features a white dial that evokes snow.

Both watches display "Brilliant Earth" at 12 o'clock, with the caseback reading "Manufactured by Louis Erard." The crowns feature a sculptural "Sol motif" not found on standard La Petite Seconde models. The Winter edition adds four baguette-cut lab-grown diamond markers at 12, 3, 6, and 9 o'clock.

Pricing and Availability

The Summer is priced at ,995, and the Winter at ,995. Each is limited: 65 pieces of Summer and 35 of Winter. These watches are available through Brilliant Earth boutiques, targeting jewelry customers with a passing interest in watches rather than hardcore enthusiasts.

Our Take

This collaboration is a strategic move for Louis Erard, opening new distribution channels and introducing the brand to a different audience. The watches themselves are aesthetically pleasing, drawing from Louis Erard's design language while adding a touch of Brilliant Earth's jewelry expertise. While not aimed at collectors, the limited production and unique design make them intriguing pieces for those seeking something distinct.
