Bremont Terra Nova Jumping Hour Expands with 35mm Case and New Dial Options
Bremont Terra Nova Jumping Hour: A New Compact Era
The British watchmaker Bremont has broadened its Terra Nova Jumping Hour family with fresh interpretations that cater to diverse tastes. Following the initial release in 2025, which featured a bold design inspired by early 20th-century military pocket watches and World War I trench watches, the collection now introduces a more compact 35mm case size, along with frosted case finishes and two new vibrant dial colors. These additions were unveiled during Geneva Watch Days, marking a significant evolution in the lineup.
Understanding the Montre à Guichet Style
The term "montre à guichet" refers to a watch that uses small apertures, or guichets, to display the time instead of traditional hands. The original 38mm Jumping Hour model embraced this concept with protective grilles reminiscent of trench watches, featuring three vertically aligned apertures for jumping hours at the top, running seconds in a central round window with the Wayfinder compass logo, and minutes at the bottom. After the initial bronze version, Bremont expanded with steel and black DLC references.
New 35mm Closed-Dial Models
The closed-dial Jumping Hour, previously only available in 38mm, now comes in a compact 35mm cushion-shaped case with a reduced height of 8.9mm, while maintaining a 30-meter water resistance rating. Instead of three apertures, the brushed steel dial plate now features just two: one for jumping hours and one for minutes. The small seconds aperture has been removed and replaced with an engraved depiction of the Wayfinder compass. The dial plate also carries a simplified inscription, reading only "Bremont, London." The jumping hours disc is white with black numerals coated in green-emission Super-LumiNova, while the minutes are printed in black. Both windows are protected by sapphire crystal, with a magnifier over the hours. The watch is available on either a steel bracelet or a grey nubuck leather strap, both with a quick-release system.
Limited Editions with Frosted Finishes
Bremont has also introduced two limited editions featuring frosted cases. The Jumping Hour Frosted, limited to 150 pieces, has a frosted, slightly sparkling case and dial protector, highlighted by a thick, brightly polished bevel. It shares the same specifications as the regular 35mm steel models but is even more minimalist, omitting the Wayfinder logo, the pointer under the minutes, and the London inscription. The only information besides the two apertures is a polished Bremont appliqué at 6 o'clock. This model is exclusively offered on the grey leather strap.
The second limited edition, the Frosted Pink, is limited to 200 pieces and features a frosted case and bezel with a hot pink lacquered dial with a sunray effect. It has two apertures for hours and minutes, each with a white background and pink numerals. This model introduces a central seconds hand indicating a peripheral railway-style track, with applied silver stars and diamonds marking the even numerals. It is paired with a quick-release pink nubuck strap.
New Burgundy Dial Variants
In addition to the limited editions, Bremont has released a non-limited 35mm reference with a rich burgundy lacquered dial, sharing the same layout as the Frosted Pink. This model features applied dots and star markers on the periphery and is available on a strap or bracelet. The apertures have black grained backgrounds with white numerals. Notably, the two 35mm Frosted models and the burgundy dial version have an increased water resistance rating of 100 meters.
For those who prefer a larger size, Bremont is also presenting a 40.5mm Jumping Hour model with a new lacquered burgundy dial, available with a steel bracelet or strap. It retains the left-centred layout, with an aperture for jumping hours at 9 o'clock and a minutes window alongside the central seconds hand.
Movement and Specifications
All the new watches feature closed casebacks and are powered by the customized Sellita-based automatic calibre BC634. This movement is designed with high torque to ensure the jumping hours snap into place in less than 1/10 of a second. Beating at 4Hz, it delivers a robust 56-hour power reserve.
